The development of our products started in our kitchen in Scotland. We would bring black soap and shea butter back from Ghana annually and infuse both with different oils to make the black soap less drying to the skin, and make the shea butter softer and easier to apply. We also wanted our skin to smell good so added essential oils of our choosing. Every year we would learn to make the shea butter fluffier and lighter, and eventually, we even developed our black soap into a shower gel. We kept this in the family for many years; meanwhile, we would preach to our friends about the harmful nature of the products they were using. One day, a friends pointed out that there were not many unharmful skincare alternatives.
So, after years of shaking our heads at the state of the beauty industry and the harm it was doing to women’s health in particular, we realised that we may actually be the solution to the problem we had been complaining about.
Asasé was created.
All of our products use edible ingredients from nature that have been proven to help hydrate, soften, and moisturise skin. We have a variety of soaps and moisturisers with ingredients that help alleviate dryness, itching, aging, and inflammation. Our ingredients are sourced in Ghana and processed in Ghana and in Scotland.
